Inclusive Schools Grants
To support innovative school projects, VREC offers a range of annual mini-grants. For 2026–2027, Inclusive Schools Grants have been increased to support diversity, equity, and inclusion practices, offering up to $1,000 for single classrooms and up to $1,500 for school-wide initiatives.
About the grant
VREC will provide grants to schools in support of diversity, equity and inclusion (D.E.I.) practices. Schools can use these grants to support performers, artists in residence, guest speakers, culturally responsive libraries or classroom collections, or training for student groups or staff that foster D.E.I. awareness and best practices.
Award amounts
Grants of $1,000 are available for single classrooms. Grants of $1,500 are available for school-wide activities. This is a rolling application process and runs until all funds are allocated.

Brittany Armstrong, the Library Media Specialist at Brownington Central School, used a 2025-26 VREC Inclusive Schools Mini-Grant to expand the library's collection. Brittany and the BCS Reading Club read The Flicker by H.E. Edgmon, one of the library’s new acquisitions. The story is heavily grounded in Indigenous (Seminole) perspectives on identity, relationship to the land, and survival.
